Caterpillar 953C...

This is an in depth look at the Caterpillar 953C Trackloader. I will provide as much media and information as I can.

According to reliable sources this machine was manufactured from the years 1996 to 2007.

There are several different models including the 953C, 953C II, 953C LGP, 953C WDA, 953C WH. From what I can find there are two different serial number prefixes and they are the 2ZN and the BBX.

It is estimated that approximately 8400 Caterpillar 953C Trackloaders have been produced from its origination.

This machine had a few different engines through out its lifetime including the Cat 3116, Cat 3126B, Cat 3054C, Cat 3126B, Cat 3116T, Cat 3116 DIT and Cat D330.

Engine cranks out about 130HP depending on the year and certain modifications.

Transmission would be hystat. Hystat transmission is best because you have variable speed (like a hydraulic lawn mower). On the older powershift machines it would take more time because you would need to switch gears everytime you wanted to go faster or in reverse. With hystat you have a simple lever (see video) that gives you very consistant  speeds and quick turn around time. VERY nice for high production jobs.

The common bucket size would be around 2.4 C/Y or (cubic yard) although there are many different buckets and front attachments available for this machine.

General weight on this machine is around 31,000 lbs although it could go up to 37,000 lbs depending on the machine.

Common length: 20'1". Common width: 7'2" Common height: 10'1".

This machine is excellent for digging home foundations, clearing land, digging ponds and all types of other projects.
